Richard Stevenson of Hi-Fi News in the UK got his hand on an Anthem Statement M1 and reviewed it in the latest issue, (which is currently available on news stands). We have covered some of the highlights below but Stevenson approached the review with an unbelievable amount of detail. We hope you will take the time to read the full review.

"The sheer dynamic scale of the presentation is truly breathtaking, putting a Cheshire Cat sized grin on my face almost immediately."

"Their control is seemingly limitless, each bass note etched into the overall sound with class-leading tautness
and astounding clarity. Push the volume some more and nothing sags, gives or sounds strained in any way. The M1 has the high volume dynamic of a well set-up live gig, maintaining an impressive balance even when your trousers are flapping like flags in a breeze."

"I suspect the M1s’ volume reserves are limited only by someone, potentially several streets away, complaining or one of the speakers throwing in the towel. With Infected Mushroom sounding like a top Ibiza dance gig I finally bottled out at close to 110dB at the sofa – mostly because I didn’t want to start the year with a bill for a new pair of tweeters."

"It is easy to describe a large power amplifier as effortless but that is not necessarily an accurate description of the M1s. The sound is strictly focused, tight and polished across the volume range without the sometimes lazy richness that big amps can demonstrate at lower levels. The M1’s speed and transient attack brings an authentic edgy realism to instruments, particular acoustic ones."

"I would go so far to say that if you feed the M1s an immaculately mastered and well recorded tune, they will deliver power, precision and articulation like precious few power amps at the price."

"The underpinning bass line was taut and expressive, never in danger of getting bloated or out of shape. The M1s commanded the speakers to eke out all the depth they could muster but never filled in speaker shortcomings with artificial bloom in the upper LF to compensate."

The Ultimate Man Cave of Former NY Giants Star Sports Anthem Electronics & Paradigm Speakers

Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer just completed his man cave, a project he initiated long before the Giants made it into the Superbowl this year. Designed and installed by Todd Anthony Puma of The Source Home Theater Installation & Design, New York City, the system features high-end equipment from Anthem, Paradigm, Wolf and Screen Innovations.

The deadline set by Amani for the install was this year's Superbowl, just in case the Giants didn't make it to the end. Although Amani will be watching his team take on the New England Patriots from the
Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis instead, his man cave is complete and ready for future enjoyment.

A large portion of the install process was auditioning the audio equipment. “For this room, above all else, I wanted a surround-sound system that made me feel like I was right in the middle of the action,” says Toomer. “That’s the one thing I’ve never loved about surround-sound: I’ve never felt like I was actually there. I’ve always felt like I was almost there. I don’t want almost. If I’m watching a game, I want to feel the attack.”

To make the selection easier, Toomer visited Puma’s home to audition a few different audio setups. “We listened to three different systems,” says Puma. In the end Toomer selected Paradigm Studio series speakers and matching subwoofers powered by Anthem's MRX 700 receiver, mentioning that the Paradigm & Anthem system sounded “fuller and less trembly” than the others.

The end result? A bad a$$ theater room with beautiful decor to match. Amani Toomer’s “Ultimate Man Cave” will air on “First Look” on LXTV, the NY local NBC Channel 4 station at 12:30 AM ET on Sunday, February 5^th. It will also air on national television on NBC’s “OPEN HOUSE” program airing at 8:30am on Superbowl Sunday.

MRX 700 earns AVForums.com "Best Buy" Award

AVForums reviewed the MRX 700 and gave it the "Best Buy" stamp of approval, comparing it to the "physique, poise and accuracy of a mid 80s Russian gymnast...where its grip and control of real world loudspeakers manifests itself in a very taught, textured delivery that has real - as in hi-fi levels of - detail and refinement."

Listening
"There are two points that were very clear to me after my first, extended, thrashing of the MRX 700. The first is that if this is 'only' a 7x120W of amplifier, then somebody should tell Anthem their Watts are larger than the competitions. Okay, I only run 5.1, but as any visitors to Williams towers will confirm, the listening room is quite large and I'm prepared to fill it to the corners with sound and the MRX-700 was well up to the task, without losing it's composure."

"It was during one of my music sessions that the second revelation hit me. For the first time ever, I preferred music with the EQ switched ON and I still can't believe I've just written that. Turn ARC on and the stereo soundstage increases slightly in size, tightens up in terms of focus, but because most of its doings are focused toward the bottom end of the range (I tended to set the EQ to an upper limit of 1kHz) the natural life and sparkle survived untouched."

Conclusion
"Forget the spec sheets, get out and hear the MRX 700. There is no spec sheet for sheer class and the MRX 700 delivers it by the bucket."

Anthem makes a "Statement" at CES 2012 with Awards & New Statement M1 Amplifier

CES 2012 wrapped up last week and based on attendance and show coverage, we're calling it a great success at Anthem & Paradigm! With the introduction of new products, a mind-blowing 2-channel high-end demo as well as a few sneak previews of upcoming products, the Anthem & Paradigm suites at the Venetian were buzzing with excitement! So here's a summary of what went on...

The show kicked off on a high note with a prestigious award for Anthem... The SoundStage! Network handed out their "Product of the Year" awards and the MRX 700 won "Exceptional Value" in the Electronics category!

By far the most popular Anthem product at the show was the Statement M1 amplifier. CE Pro named it one of the "Best Products of CES 2012"...

The M1 also performed in the Anthem & Paradigm 2-channel high-end demo. Creating quite the buzz, the demo room featured two Paradigm Reference Signature S8 floorstanding speakers driven by a pair of new Anthem Statement M1 amplifiers. Until now, Class D amplifiers have been shunned in the audiophile world. The M1 enjoys all of the attributes of our award-winning Statement Class AB amplifiers but through exclusive Anthem technologies, goes far beyond the current capabilities of Class A, Class AB and prior Class D amplifiers in the market. The goal of the demo was to be a simple 2-channel demo so that we could let the S8s and M1s shine and we can say with confidence, they did just that.

Anthem MRX 700 wins "Best of 2011" Award

As you may recall, back in February 2011, Caleb Denison of Digital Trends reviewed the Anthem MRX 700 and called it "Every Bit an Audiophile's A/V Receiver".

It appears the love for the MRX 700 has not been forgotten, as Digital Trends just released their "Best of 2011 Awards" and the MRX won "Best A/V Receiver" in the Home Theater category.

"In an interesting twist, they've started to move some manufacturing back from China to their Toronto-adjacent facility. "Vertically integrated" may be a buzzword these days, but in this case, it's true. Paradigm does nearly everything in-house for most models."

"I came away right impressed... to see how much care and effort goes into them was eye opening. Anthem & Paradigm Proud to Take Part in Extreme Makeover Home Edition Keefer Family Project

When a gymnastics accident left teenager Brian Keefer paralyzed from the neck down, his father Steve quit his job to dedicate the entirety of his time to his son’s recovery, including escorting him to college day-to-day. However, given the layout of the Keefer family’s home, it became somewhat of a prison for Brian because he was confined to the main floor - but not for long...

The Extreme Makeover Home Edition team redesigned and built the home salvaging only a few key rooms of the old home, while designing an entirely new wing specifically for Brian, complete with a voice activated home automation system, a monitoring system and an aqua therapy pool on the flip-side of the motorized Draper screen that has become Brian’s new home theater.

And what better opportunity for Paradigm & Anthem to take part in this incredible project, then with the inclusion of a theater room? As soon as the opportunity presented itself we were quick to jump on board and donate an array of speakers and electronics to the Extreme team. In the theater room and throughout the home there are a total of twelve PCS and CS series in-wall speakers, two Reference Millenia 20 on-wall LCR speakers, an X-300 in-wall amplifier, Stylus and Rock Monitor outdoor speakers. From Anthem the speakers are powered with an MRX-300 receiver and a PVA 4 amplifier.

CEDIA EXPO 2011 - A huge success and a whole lotta fun for Anthem & Paradigm

It would be impossible to say that CEDIA 2011 was anything but a success for Paradigm & Anthem. With the introduction of many products (and product lines!) three active demos and sneak previews of multiple unreleased products, the booth was buzzing with excitement and the mass amounts of show coverage by the press is proof of that.

Kevin Nakano of LA Audio File reviewed the Anthem MRX 700 and wrote a VERY thorough and well written review that we recommend you read especially if you are interested in what's in the box and under the hood! Below are a few highlights specifically related to performance:

Anthem Room Correction (ARC):
"One of the premium features on MRX series receivers is Anthem's Room Correction (ARC) system... The ARC design makes sense and the performance we experienced with the room correction was excellent."

Video Performance:
"The MRX 700 handled any video we threw at it and did so with excellent results. Whether if was blu-ray running 1080p 24Hz/60Hz or standard DVD over HDMI, video was free of any objectionable artifacts. The high definition material looked unaltered and as good as we have always seen it in our system. Video revealed the same rich, well saturated colors we have always seen with no false contouring through changin gradations... we were thoroughly impressed."

Audio Performance:
"Anthem always pays a great deal of attention to sound quality, so it was not surprising to expect this receiver to perform well... The MRX 700 decoded Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio multi-channel audio from our bD titles without any issues and the sound quality was superb from the crystal clear dialogue to the deep, tight penetrating bass... exceptional fidelity with virtually no fatigue even at higher volumes with long durations."

"Those who are familiar with Anthem know their commitment to high performance, so their should be little surprise that the MRX series of receivers meet the critical demands of their followers. Under the hood of the amplifier

"Unpacked, this monster weighs in at almost 43 lbs. and a peek under the hood lets you quickly see why. A good-sized toroidal transformer is inside, along with two massive Nichicon filter capacitors in the middle of the board. Two massive heatsinks, one per channel, are visible through cut-outs in the bottom of the chassis which add to the weight, but also allow it to run without any fans to dissipate heat and interfere with the music."

"When I fired the system up... these qualities came through in spades. The soundstage of the S2s was very wide, but most notably was very deep. Much of the music seemed to radiate from beyond the back wall, really bringing the depth of the stage that it was recorded on back to your listening environment. The picking of a guitar came through with the metallic notes of the strings coming across, but it was a very easy sound to my ear. In person, the sound of someone picking a guitar is usually not something that would cause you to wince, but with many tweeters you can find that those higher notes will have a glare to them that is very fatiguing. Anthem & Paradigm make Donation to Support Relief Efforts in Japan and Asia-Pacific Region

After a week of global media attention, the mention of the Japan earthquake and Asia Pacific tsunami is no surprise to anyone around the world. But what has very quickly escalated into a historical natural disaster, that has and and will continue to affect the entire world. Non-profit humanitarian agencies and governments internationally are reaching out to lend a hand but the destruction created as a result of such a crisis requires more than that.

Which is why we at Anthem & Paradigm have decided to do what we can to help. Earlier today we donated $2,500 to the Canadian Red Cross and have reached out on our various social media sites encouraging our extended family (Facebook fans and Twitter followers) to consider donating money towards the relief efforts as well.

To start, we'd like to apologize if the headline of this blog offends anyone... sorry. In our defense, it was far too tempting to down-play such a fun compliment when let's be serious, we're just like any parent gushing with pride for our new baby (the Anthem MRX 700 receiver that is).

After having a go with the MRX 700, Dennis Burger of HomeTechTell wrote a favorable review full of playful quotes like the one above - and yes we're proud! So without further ado, here's a few teasers that we hope will entice you to read the entire review...

"...a significant factor in the MRX 700’s exceptional audio performance—is Anthem Room Correction (ARC for short), the exact same calibration system that ships with the company’s flagship Statement D2v A/V processor... Attendees at the Bristol Show 2011 in February will get "the ultimate 3D experience" at the SIM2/Anthem AV Solutions demo, says the company.

Now, after the North American press introduction at the CEA LineShows last month, Roger Kanno, associate editor, agrees with both Doug and Colin, "judging by the information provided, and Anthem's reputation for producing top-quality electronics Doug and Colin had good reason to be impressed by these products."

Anthem & Paradigm show off their Flagship Pieces in this Parisian themed Custom Home Theater

Award-winning Chicago Interior Designer John Cannon designed a home theater and entertainment zone with hints of an antique Parisian bar decorated with Art-Deco details. Incorporated in the 'zone' was a breathtaking home cinema with Anthem & Paradigm flagship installation by George Georgiou of Cinetec Audio Video Design Centers in Palos Hills, IL.

Filling the rack of this theater is Anthem Statement electronics including the award-winning D2v audio/video processor as well as P2 & P5 amplifiers. The rear of the room includes a curved wall which posed some serious acoustical challenges but Georgiou used the ARC Anthem room correction kit included with the D2v to tame the sound field.

Georgiou chose to deck out the theater in the Paradigm Reference Signature line because as he puts it...

"Paradigm has, at every price point, a speaker that competes with the best of the best in the world... so when I'm deciding which speaker we're going to use in a particular room, I look at the capabilities of each speaker in [Paradigm's] catalog and decide what's going to eb best for the project depending on a budget. With this room, we needed world-class performance, and so we went with S8. I don't know that there's a better speaker for the money."

At the front of the room Georgiou used a pair of S8's and a C5 center channel. However, at the rear of the room, Georgiou wanted to match the S8 & C5 sonically but he couldn't use traditional in-walls in the curved wall. "As good as the guys at Paradigm are, they don't make curved back boxes," he says. But Georgiou found the perfect solution using four Signature W5 speakers, a thing on-wall speaker.

Al Griffin raved about the AVM 50v in his review saying that it "is a worthy successor to the company's AVM 50 preamp / processor, bringing a number of welcome audio features like the company's impressive ARC room-correction and built-in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack decoding. Anthem Statement D2v Processor and P5 Multi-channel Amplifier Win Prestigious European Award

Anthem is proud to announce the Statement D2v and P5 multi-channel amplifier as winners of a European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) European HT High-End Award for 2009-2010. The EISA recognizes Anthem for combining the most advanced technology, the most desirable features, the ultimate expression of design, the most satisfying ergonomics and the greatest value.

Chosen annually by panels representing more than 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theater and mobile electronics magazines from 20 European countries, EISA-nominated products undergo detailed test evaluations, with the final list of nominated products debated in detail at EISA's Annual General Meeting (AGM), attended by Editors-in-Chief from all EISA member magazines.

In describing Anthem’s processing and amplification package, the EISA states:

“Hailing from Canada’s Paradigm stable, this massive AV processor/power amplifier combination offers decoding for all Dolby and DTS HD-audio formats while the modular amplifier platform is available in both two and five-channel variants, rates at a substantial 325W. According to Jeremy Glowacki, editorial director of Residential Systems, "In our sixth year of honoring the best industrial designs in the CEDIA channel, I couldn't be happier with our finalists...These products demonstrate that ergonomics, intuitive functionality, and elegance of design do not need to be compromised in a down economy."

The next-generation model enhances the unparalleled performance features found in its first iteration with significant upgrades.

As a pioneer in the troubleshooting and integration of HDMI^{^TM}, Anthem knows better than most how to utilize these connections to their fullest. The Statement D2v is equipped with four additional HDMI 1.3c inputs (for a total of eight) and one additional HDMI 1.3c output (for a total of two), delivering unprecedented connection capabilities for a preamplifier/processor.

More connections are useful, of course, but performance is king. The Anthem Statement D2v delivers outstanding video enhancement courtesy of its updated VXP^®digital image processor. This "latest-generation" processor offers professional-grade, fully-adaptive deinterlacing. Also included are adaptive 3D noise reduction, mosquito noise reduction, block artifact reduction, adaptive detail enhancement featuring sharpness and texture enhancement with overshoot control, and adaptive contrast enhancement. The D2v's powerful, multi-layered graphics engine allows for sophisticated on-screen display generation that is ideal for setup menus. All inputs and outputs offer Deep-Color support (36-bit).

Audio performance on the Statement D2v has been ramped up to meet the demands of emerging HD audio standards. Two dual-core digital signal processor (DSP) engines offer 800 MIPS (million instructions per second) of processing power to allow 7.1-channel decoding of Dolby^® Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD^{^TM} High-Resolution Audio and DTS-HD^{^TM} Master Audio. The Anthem Statement D2v also supports 24/192 PCM audio input, up to 7.1 channels.

Anthem's Room Correction System (ARC^{^TM}) is a standard feature on all Statement D2v preamplifier/processors. While equalizing frequency response in a room to achieve some generic (i.e., "flat") response is a common approach, it sounds unnatural because it assumes the listening room is anechoic and does not account for how a speaker sounds in a room. Anthem's true audiophile approach with ARC instead uses proprietary processing to compute each speaker's in-room frequency response and then computes a target frequency response for each to yield the optimal sound.
